Plant stanols are present in small amounts in foods such as corn, wheat, rye and oats and are derived from plant materials such as soya and pine. They are combined with rapeseed oil fatty acids through a method called esterification to produce fat-soluble Plant Stanol Esters.  Plant Stanol Esters are then easily incorporated into Benecol® foods.
